"My heart lifted my feet,
and I danced"
Nathan of Nemirov
With the hugely popular Jabberwocky, The Owl and the Pussycat, The Quangle-Wangle's Hat and Stomp Like A Dinosaur firm favouites at family concerts with chamber group Daniel's Beard, Lenny Sayers has now turned his attention towards a classic poem by one of history's finest wordsmiths. Tennyson's The Lady of Shalott has all the ingredients of a blockbuster feature film - a damsel in distress, a handsome knight in shining armour, spectacular scenery (implied!), thrilling action and dark undertones...
His new setting of the poem uses the musicians of Daniel's Beard, with BBC presenter Jamie MacDougall narrating. Enhancing the tale are the dancers of High Heart Dance Company - balletic poise and elegance in one moment, whirling dervishes of action and adventure the next. A real-life multi-media performance (but without the digital, electronic bit!), The Lady of Shalott is one for all the family!
The Lady of Shalott will premier at the West End Festival as part of The Cottier Chamber Project, and will run at the Edinburgh Fringe as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase.
