Joanne Pirrie



Joanne trained at the Dance School of Scotland, Bird College and subsequently New English Contemporary Ballet School. Whilst training she was selected to represent Scotland in the CulturAtlantic Project hosted by Gelabert/Azzopardi Dance Company, Spain, and in 2010 Joanne was awarded Dance Base's Emerging Dancer Bursary.


Joanne joined High Heart Dance in 2014, creating and performing a role in ‘Footprints’ at Cottier Dance Project and as part of the Made in Scotland showcase at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.


Other professional engagements: Errol White Company; Stephen Pelton; Rob Heaslip/max.IMEALLdance; plan B Creative; eMotion; High Heart Dance; Ampersandance; Kevin Edward Turner; Malgorzata Dzierzon; Pucko Company; and Cagoule Production’s Inhabitants at the Mapping Festival, Geneva. Film and TV credits include: featured dancer in BBC's River City trailer; new tv drama The Outlander; music videos for Unkle Bob and Zulu Winter; Belle & Sebastian international tour visuals; and dance film/instillation Strange Attractors directed by Swedish film artist Marie Liden.


Joanne is also a Cardao De Ouro capoeira student under the tuition of Professor Medusa and Mestre Papa Leguas, and performed in a new capoeira/tango commission for Mela Feste 2013.
